I am sad to report that Kevin Seconds is officially a remember of the No Fun Club :( As you may know, Kev is the singer of the legendary hardcore band 7 Seconds. Now that I think about it, they were probably the band responsible for laying the foundation for easycore, but sadly Kevin seems to be playing folk, classic rock, and (worst of all) “Americana” these days. In the same way as it bums me out when I notice my 65 year-old mother begin to show signs of old age, my soul died a little bit when I saw Kev’s favorite bands were Elvis Costello, Johnny Cash and Billy Bragg.
Nothing says, “I’m fucking old, out of touch, and proud” like retreating into the safety of dusty, irrelevant “jamz 4 oldz” like the above artists. Actually, there is one thing that says “get off my lawn” even more strongly: Getting butthurt about a contemporary band, especially when you’re 18 months late to the party. For example, Kevin Seconds’ entry-level “angry dad/kids these days” rant about BrokeNYCDE on his Facebook (thanks to Jose Galvan for the tip):
My dad Kevin Seconds
Oh, and LOL @ the guy who wrote “Together” and “Soulforce Revolution” getting all high and mighty :P
