MY GEORGIAN LIFE

Two Georgian Am Appy models?

My father came over here from Georgia (former USSR country) many moons ago, so the following videos give me some perspective on what I could be doing in a parallel universe had my dad not emigrated and I had not been born in the great USA.

If anything, you will love the Georgian interpretation of American sub-cultures.  *Sidenote: I look like 64% of the dudes in these videos.

I could have been an aggressive rapper, who vents by throwing rocks on a dirt path at imaginary Russians, while fully decked out in American sportswear. {edit: my Dad actually sent me this video, no joke}

I could have joined a grungy “hardcore” band called Agonia, who would go on to play in front of tens of people in downtown Tbilisi.

My god @ the girls in this vid…. sadly I missed getting corpse-painted up and attending Tbilisi Blitzkrieg Metal Fest 2008.

The first Georgian emo song?  Somehow foreign emo seems so much more legitimately suicidal…

Kind of want?  Could be dating the Georgian Kiki Kannibal….

Sorry, this is Russian but I couldn’t not post it. WTF @ THIS COLLECTION OF CARS!?

Are you from a foreign country that churns out cut-rate versions of US bands and movements?  Do you dig these Georgian and or other Eurasian women?  What would you be doing if your relatives had not immigrated to a civilized country?

Hahaha. All this is not far from my own life.

  2. Sergeant D says:

    1. the part in the rap video where he’s cutting wheat with a sickle: EURASIAN LIEF
    2. what’s up with Nina The Terror being thickish?? in my experience soviet-bloc girls are mostly thin and athletic (via decades of breeding for olympic dominance)
    3. that metalcore video– i love how they get many parts right (their moves, riffing and playing in a grassy field) yet get the other parts so so wrong (the jnco shorts, the les paul, the AIDS quilt and broken cars in the grassy field)

  3. serious machine says:

This is all hilarious. Really made my morning.

How old are these videos? They look like they are all from the early 90s. I guess we know where all of the VHS camcorders when.

  4. Ink Deep says:

Lol’d hard at the final breakdown in the last vid. They sound like iwrestledabearonce.

  5. RT says:

before laughing at Russian metal scene check out Sumatra, Taking your last chance, My Autumn, Ease of Disgust, Calmed by the tides of Rain, One More Victim, Change of Loyalty and many other bands that are just as good and probably even better than most of American ones…

  6. Save Parker says:

Nina Terror chick was hotter than most annoying American bullshit alt models. Maybe cause I like pink hair and that Pierce the Veil song…

  7. lolwut says:

dated a girl from Georgia for years. she was pretty smokin and her eurasian-ness was incredibly lulzy.

  8. Jose says:

thanks for this post, as a son of immigrants myself (Nicaragua and Mexico) I feel a kinship with the “whoa, dodged that bullet” feeling when looking at what COULD have been!
Also – the guys in the last video, sure they are lulzy, but isn’t their cluelessness in a weird way ‘keeping it real’ ? THink about it. They really DGAF!
Also on the immigrant tip, thanks for pointing out to Americans that Georgia does not = Russia.
It’s sorta like when Americans call all of central America “mexico”.

  9. Austin Nutter says:

Eh if my ancestors hadn’t immigrated I’d be in Ireland. Could be worse I suppose.

    • Sergeant D says:

      nice ass in that vid!

my father is from norway. not sure what they do up there– ride whales or something??

      • Manuwar says:

in the US, rich people have horses in their ranch. In Puerto Rico, poor caserio (ghetto) people have horses…in the sidewalk. Atleast we have beautiful women….

      • Coffeemug says:

we’re not riding whales.. although that does sound pretty sweet.

as for the topic I’m pretty sure some shit can be found, but it does strike me that the bands that are actually good avoids the trap of making third-rate videos by themselves?
or it could just be that I am not up to date on this.

i guess i’m kind of an example for this due to my euro father not immigrating to the usa (he hated the country) and instead going to peru. also, due to my mother being a middle class white peruvian, she had too much of a comfortable life as to not being forced to emigrate to the states like many other peruvians. i’m not sure how being half german half peruvian is better than being 100% eurotrash, though. probably just lulzy in a different way. so i’m also what you us-born latinos would be, had your parents not been wise enough to leave their home countries. anyway, thank you sywh for showing me what i’m missing by not being american. i’m srsly jelly :(

  16. Autodidact says:

I am Indonesian and grew up there (yes not all azns speak terribly broken Engrish.) I just moved to America (OC/the 949) 2 years ago for college.

Indonesia has a fairly dedicated slam scene and they are definitely as lulzy as JPN slam: check Total Rusak, Jasad, Total Anal Infection.

However, the Indo pop music seems to adore J-Rock like whoa.

Oh and we just recently started having A7X ripoff bands. It’s every bit as bad as it sounds

  17. xdndx says:

We moved to the States back in 89 and then we returned to Chile in 94. And from there on I’ve been coming and going between Ft Lauderdale and Santiago. So while I’m established now down here, I remember this rap/metal band from the late 90s http://youtu.be/R7rSMqLapOo since the singer’s family used to have a grocery store close to my school and at lunch time you could go there and he’d make you sandwiches while he was blasting some Biohazard on the stereo.

  18. Dirty Darko says:

    Georgian Kiki Kannibal…. Smash.

  19. pl says:

I live in europe and cant find people to start legit band halp

My grandparents are from Chechnya and one of my other grandparents from Russia, so I’d have a pretty similar life they hadn’t immigrated.
