There are no rules on SYWH, but generally speaking I’ve tried hard to avoid discussing metal. This is because I don’t want to attract annoying metal nerds who will talk shit on anything we post about that isn’t metal, complain about everything, and generally act like total fggts who nobody wants to deal with.

The problem with da Slamz on SYWH is that it’s up there with tech death as the most beta of all music… perhaps not for the same reasons, but you won’t find any girls within 100 miles of a Slam show.

I was a Terror show a few months ago and there were girls everywhere…. granted, underage ones, but there are no girls of any age range at a Slam show.

Dude, I think you may be underestimating how much of your readership came from a metal background/listen to mostly metal. Most of the olds would have picked this blog up post-Metal Inquisition. And it isn’t like metal and hardcore haven’t been the same thing since like 1998.
Basically this blog seems to be about making fun of the things that you like, and as long as you stick to that I don’t see why there will be a problem.
Who knows what the stats are, but I think that a lot of SYWH readers are metal dorks. I’m a metal dork but I’m always up for hearing new shit or old shit that I’ve never heard before. I don’t think the metal fans who follow this site are the type that are excessively opinionated and unbearably annoying about the music they like. So I don’t think Sarge would open a floodgate of easily butthurt, screeching metal nerds if he posted about slam.

I don’t know…history has shown that downtuning is the enemy trendiness. This is why it can be cool to like black metal, but not death or war metal. Same seems to go for hipster hardcore vs beatdown and tough guy hardcore

Actually, this is the first time I’ve heard of “slam metal”. Frankly, it doesn’t seem all that different from a lot of older grindcore stuff (Carcass, Dying Fetus, Blood Duster etc.) just with insane amounts drum triggers. But the kids like what the kids like.
Now, if SYWH starts posting about Nile, Nasum and Mortician…then I’ll start getting worried

I love slam bands, stuff like kraanium, devourment, cephalotripsy, defeated sanity, etc… But I also love pop punk like chunk no captain chunk, ADTR, Fight fair. Idk why having an insatiable lust for groovy slamz attracts beta nerds, but I think slam should be a frequent topic of discussion on SYWH

I also used to be SUPER elitist and would judge people just because they didn’t know about the bands i did and was a prick about it. But this past year I pretty much learned to accept that musical taste is all subjective and shouldn’t be used to constantly one up people and feel better about yourself. Oh yeah i also started to get way more chicks now that i’m into ADTR.
