Some bros called FOR THE WIN really like FIGHT FAIR

If you miss the golden years of easycore (2008-2009) as much as I do, then you will be stoked on a new band from San Diego called FOR THE WIN. Don’t know much about them other than they obviously love FIGHT FAIR even more than I do, and that they make me hopeful for a return of the classic, first-wave easycore sound!

One of the things they should copy from Fight Fair is NOT having zany song titles like “See You Dudes On Wednesday.” That said, this song rules and sounds like Chunk No Captain Chunk if they could speak English!

Feeling this song even more, I can never get enough of this kind of shit! Also the guy on the right in the black Obey shirt who is all “LOL I HERPED SO HARD I DERPED”

Hit them up on Facebook and Tumblr, tell them SYWH sent you!

lately ive been finding some awesome easycore bands and im adding these guys to the my list. im hoping 2012 will be the year Easycore makes a comeback.

These guys are pretty sick. Def could get down to this.
I was unaware that easycore had been in a slump tho. Sure, the Tr00 pop-punk thing has taken some good bands down with them (RIP, The Wonder Years. Miss ur breakdowns), but 2011 seemed a strong year for the euro easycore bands; Can’t Bear This Party’s album is some of the best shit I’ve ever heard (dat glockenspiel). Me vs. Hero and CN!CC have kept the faith! Buck up Sarge, all hope is not lost!

This is dope…going for the “settle the score” sound but it isn’t quite as ballsy. Someone needed to fill in where FF hilariously sabotaged their easy-core “career”.

  4. Mustard Tiger says:

I dont really ever remember easycore being that popular in 08 and that was when i was actively involved in the scene did easycore fever miss pennsylvania

  5. Save Parker says:

Easy core should be the next scene trend, crabcore is like dead, deathcore is dwindling, easycore is about to take over. Just needs a band to blow up and usher it in, especially since ADTR is too busy trying to be on the radio.

yo whats up with these forums, why cant i post comments anymore?

    k basically:

i was really into easycore in 2008-2009 but the genre did go through a slump. i would blame this on the big bands, like four year strong and set your goals, becoming crappy.
or in the case of the wonder years, they got big AFTER they became crappy. another big problem is 95% of the up and coming bands are meh/shitty. the good up and coming bands from that era got big though (me vs hero, chunk no captain chunk) so that is one positive aspect of the genre. i think the problem is that so many kids who suck at their instruments start “pop punk” bands.. because they think its easy. the thing they have twisted is that its easy to play CRAPPY pop punk, but to be actually good at it is a different story. i discovered for the win a few weeks ago and hit them up on facebook. they told me they were releasing an ep in decemeber so im looking forward to that. i agree, that “hit em where it hurts” song is great, first song i heard from them. i think there is still hope for easycore in 2011, you just have to search harder for the good bands i suppose.

oh and, if you havent heard in her own words, check them out immediatly. they released an ep in 2010 and its definitely my favorite that this style has to offer yet.

For The Win or nothing. CNCC blows, it’s not easycore it’s just bad heavy sounding guitars with horrible live vocals.

For The Win or nothing. Chunk blows, it’s not easycore it’s just bad heavy sounding guitars with horrible live vocals. They fooled you all with one pop punk sounding song they made a music video for.

All these comments crack me up. twy became crappy? Or they just matured past writing silly songs about kool aid and adding generic breakdowns in their songs so hxc kids can ninja dance to them. Fight fair is better now then ever.

well except that one hispanic lookin guy in the background

  12. Socialism Ergalla says:

Hey, we’ve played with these guys! Legitimate dudes.

  13. Fred Durst says:

So is easycore just pop punk that’s heavier than normal, with the occasional hardcore sounding riff?

  14. Freddypopstar says:

Musical and lyrical maturity,if you cant hear it idk what to tell you, I dont really listen to this kind of music anymore but I respect bands that grow up musically. Kids dont like them because they cant dance to breakdowns? are you guys like 16? I was in a easycore band in 07 , I know all about “the scene”

  15. uppercut613 says:

easycore in 2007? shit thats kinda ahead of its time lol. what were you guys called

  16. gsmoreno says:

I love breakdowns. If it doesn’t have a breakdown, idc to listen to it. Just like the wonder years, they suck because they dont have breakdowns. Thats not real pop punk lol. Breakdowns are…

That is all im hearing haha.

    @uppercut
We were called hide the details, you can see our stuff on the easycore blogspot ,we have a 07 demo a 09 ep called party time and a 2010 release called waves, we sucked pretty hard early on but we got our first show with the wonder years and all our first shows were with fight fair, so I take it personally when people talk down on my friends bands even though I prob shouldnt

    • uppercut613 says:

man no offense but myspace bio/blog confuses the fuck out of me.

“Hide the Details is a Pop Punk band with its roots firmly planted in the hardcore and punk scene, founded in The summer of 2010 by Brandon Mericle, Brett Blower ,and Freddy Bates. ”

      and then

“back a while ago in 2007 i started a pop punk band called haddonfeild
that band later changed its name to hide the details! that same year
we never released anything other than a few demos and the band broke up many times until finally disbanding in march of 2010, after that break-up i started an emo punkish band called shores”

the first thing says hide the details formed in the summer of 2010, and the second thing says hide the details disbanded in march of 2010

  20. freddypopstar says:

its confusing because we disbanded many times and tried to label ourselves as a diff band later on so when we pushed our new stuff to promoters and stuff they wouldnt go looking for our old stuff which was easycore insteas of the emo/ pop punk sound of our newer stuff.
granted when we were a easycore band we sucked hard.

  21. freddypopstar says:

also weirdly enough, the drummer of for the win was in our band
