I saw American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost/whatever the fuck else they were called a few times, but they were always the epitome of “bands who everybody goes apeshit for, but just make me shrug and go ‘they’re not bad I guess?’” to me. I never got into that whole Boston “tortured artist” scene and was too busy rocking out to 18 Visions and Throwdown in 2001 to give a shit about AN.

That said, I seem to be the only one who feels that way, because from what I can tell kids have been fapping to this band for the past decade, and people are working themselves into an e-frenzy over the upcoming AN reunion shows. I no lie, I had a big boner for this band back in the day (as well as 18V and Throwdown: Euro = not differentiating between scenes). I think they were supposed to have been coming to tour here (UK) but they split and cancelled before I really knew about it.
I still love their music but everything about this reunion seems a bit too artfag pretentious – but maybe they have always been that way and I just didn’t notice back in my tight AN hoody days?
I saw them a bunch of times back when they were around. Never got why everybody jocked them so hard. I mean, I understand why people liked them, after all, they were pretty good. But people in Boston were all into them like they were the Hardcore Beta Beatles when in reality they weren’t as good as some legitimately excellent bands around at the time like Close Call, Suicide File, Shark Attack and some others.

I always enjoyed this scene when I was younger. To me its kind of like entry level hardcore. You listen to this stuff when you first get into hardcore then move on to bigger and better bands. That said, I do still listen to AN every now and then. Not jizzing myself about the reunion though.

Regardless of what you think of the music, the whole secret location thing is a dick move. LA is a big place and it’s gonna screw with people’s plans not knowing where it is. I live in South Florida and if some band said “the ft lauderdale area”, my response would be “well fuck those guys”.

It might just be me, but I think reunion shows in general are awesome. Mainly cause I miss most final shows from bands I like, who usually break up because they aren’t popular enough to keep going and want to do something else. Always gotta have a little hope they’ll come back and do some cool shit again, even the majority of people don’t really care and didn’t care before.
Also, hope that LA show is at someone’s house, would make total sense to not announce it ahead of time.

Wes Eisold is the best singer in HC, hands-down.American Nightmare redefined music, siglehandedly. Keep talking shit about Wes, he could kick all your asses, with one hand tied behind his back. A.N. still manage to generate interest, you’ve gotta hand it to them. I heard Wes is a big fan of Wino’s (St. Vitus) old band, and that song from “Grease”. Who’s going to see their show, raise your hand?
I like them, they’re just nothing remarkable. Background Noise really lives up to its name though.
Wes gave up a lucrative career as a handyman.
Wes has trouble counting past 15, or so I’ve heard.

Not toeing the party line here, I just don’t get it and never have. They’re nothing special.

I think the reunion stems primarily from boredom. You know what they say, “the devil makes time for idle hands”.
The 48 hrs. notice is due to the fact that the band wants to select the best venue possible, they have a very ” hands-on” approach to booking shows…
