Rise is still signing generic trancecore bands??

Armed with a combination of post-hardcore and pop-punk influences, Palisades adds an entire new element of emotion to their rich, big sound. Strong, catchy choruses, along with aggressive melodic screaming are combined with more contemporary breakdowns, adding a very unique and distinct character to their music. I’m Not Dying Today was recorded at Chango Gridlock Studios in Orlando Florida. Watch for Palisades on tour throughout 2012.

Really??? “Very unique and distinct”? I mean, this band is totally competent at the trancecore thing, but unique is probably not the first word I would use to describe them. And I thought Rise was getting out of the trancecore/crabcore business and transitioning into the growth markets like tr00 pop punk and srscore?

Also, “chango” is the n-word in Spanish… which begs the question, what exactly is “chango gridlock”??

Well, screamng in variating pitches can produce some favorable results. I think the singer/guitarist from Gojira is proably the best example of this. The Ocean’s newer stuff also works pretty nicely.
….Thats actually the only good examples I can think of.

  4. Pixy says:

Asking Alexandria is still the biggest band doing that trancecore thing and they kept getting bigger. So at least the trend wouldnt fade out yet(for now).

Well chango just means monkey…i don’t really use it as a slur…mayete is a racial slur for nigger in Spanish.

    • Sergeant D says:

some people do, probably varies by country… chango is n-word in tagalog, too

      • chewbakka says:

I guess it does depend…idk I’m mex so we kinda tend to use harsher sounding words and chango just doesn’t do the job. Haha

      • Gloom O))) says:

Tagalog doesn’t really have a contextually equivalent term for the n-word. The term “baluga” is more playful than offensive even. Similar in terms of meaning but it isn’t nearly as barbed as the n-word. Or whatever, ask Mia. Haven’t seen her in months lol.

    • vard says:

it does mean monkey but also can be a messican racial slurrrr

When did riserecordscore band names change from having like 10 words and as many prepositions as possible to just a plural noun?

  7. Ink Deep says:

Chango Gridlock is Cameron Mizell’s studio. Joey Sturgis rival 4 real.

  9. Save Parker says:

No matter how tr00 punk Rise gets, they will always sign some genericore bands to keep the lights on. These guys will either blow up real fast, or open tours for a couple years before breaking up.

  10. inmyheadache says:

That reminds me of Spook City records, some shortlived budget label from the early 2000s. If I didn’t listen to the Misfits, I’d assume they were sketchballs.
