There is a blog about BANE hoodies

When it comes to bands that made me scratch my head and say “people think this is ‘amazing’?!?”, BANE is at the top of the list. I’m sure they’re great guys, but I never understood why everybody and their mom jizzed over them back in 2001. I can’t help but think that a big part of their popularity was due to their hoodies, which were basically the uniform for Champion and Trial shows at the time. I know people loved those things, but I have to admit that my mind = blown when I stumbled across FUCK YEAH BANE HOODIES on the SYWH forum.

A few selections from this baffling site:

Fig 1: typical Bane/Converge/Isis fan. Ask him for his excessively strong opinions about Star Wars!

Now that I think about it, Bane might be the originators of braying donkey-style vocals of today’s tr00 pop-punk bands?? Dis bro cannot hold a note to save his life :/

How does a girl this age even know who Bane is?? And what horrible childhood trauma did she experience that makes her LIKE them? H8 u, internet

I know this is a controversial statement, but I’ve never been into big jammers– personally, I prefer small to medium-sized boobies. NO FUX.

In this photo, a guy is wearing a Bane hoodie with a guy wearing a Bane hoodie on it

FUCK YEAH BANE HOODIES: Not sure if brilliant postmodern statement about fandom and consumerism or just another tr00 asshole…

    Bane hoodie inception?!

  2. DudeBro says:

Most hardcore bands don’t make any money, but Bane must make a decent income off of merch sales judging by how ubiquitous it is.

  3. Void Eater says:

Inb4 “Fuck yeah Asking Alexandria Soundcheck Passes!”

  4. Ada says:

I played some Bane for my brother and he was like “this singer sounds like Bender (from Futurama).”

The screaming parts (not the soft spoken parts) all sound like when Bender is yelling about some shit.

  5. lolwut says:

maybe i’m just a jerk, but did anyone else ever notice how horselike the dude from bane is?

  6. AetherJake says:

It sounds like the lyrics to that first part were written in a “see how “meaningful” your lyrics can sound while literally making no sense” contest.

  7. thetotalbro says:

First time I’ve ever heard Bane. Absolutely baffled that anybody would give a fuck about this band. Then i realized they are connected to Converge, so it basically doesn’t matter at all if it’s good, people are going to jock them because I guess that’s the rule about anything Converge-related.

  8. 7DRR says:

Bane is the ultimate merch band. They’ve sold more hoodies than records. This isn’t that surprising when you consider that after ten years they still have only one decent song and that one gets old after 30 seconds. But hey, they’re from Boston, are an ‘authentic true-school’ hardcore band and they have a cool name. That’s a perfect storm if you’re a 16 year old on the brink of your ‘Tr00 Hardcore’ phase and looking for cred.

  9. converge/fan says:

converge is better. shit storm in 3 … 2…. 1….

oh nothing? thats right i understand that. so does bane have anything to do with darth bane.

    yes I am a starwarsfag.

  11. VyceVictus says:

Do you have a folder on your desktop filled with pictures of tr00 bands with dicks photoshopped onto them? That would probably be difficult to explain to your girl…

  12. Manuwar says:

the guy in the first pic creeps me out :(

  13. XheartburnX says:

    YES.

Also, it proper Hardcore etiquette to always scream BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNEE!

Also, also, It is common knowledge that the singer is horse-esque or cro-magnun-esque.

Sarge, how many BAAAANE sweatshirts do you own? 3? 6? 12?

  14. XheartburnX says:

Also, NB4 dude from Mouthpiece shows up to tell how posi and real BANE are and to stop hating.

    XXX

  15. Save Parker says:

I don’t get it. The music or the hoodies. Maybe I’m too young. Why wouldn’t you just get a plain hoodie? Where are the scenecore booty shorts tumblrs?

  16. Six Strings That Drew Blood says:

Is that fat kid wearing a Bane Snuggie?

  17. Adam says:

Sarge, I’d love to see a post about your thoughts on Converge

“Listen to how INTENSE and COMPLICATED they are,” gush the bloggers and tubby, 30+ outcasts who write for irrelevant hipster metal magazines. “They have 1 zillion riffs in every song, and none of them relate to each other in any way. I feel like they just pulled a handful of atonal, unlistenable riffs out of their sweatshirt hoods and smashed them together — brilliant!! They are truly pushing the boundaries of convention!”

      • Nightshift says:

God they had so many people going nuts for them at Maryland Death Fest. I chilled outside and watched Obituary. I don’t understand the lure. Worst vocals ever. Don’t even get me started on Dooomriders.

  18. XheartburnX says:

I’ve seen BAAANE a few times. Never on purpose because I really don’t get the hype. At some point my friends and I ironically starting liking them. and by “liking them” I mean screaming BAAAAAAAANE at shows, and knowing the words to Can We start Again. Which is still the only song I know by them. When I see kids in Bane Hoodies, which is rarer these days, I will start singing Can We start Again at them.

  19. snikt says:

xBANExFREEx since 2006. can we start again…and not go through a masshole high school straightedge phase?

  20. RJG says:

“How does a girl this age even know who Bane is?? And what horrible childhood trauma did she experience that makes her LIKE them?”

The REAL mindbottling aspect of this is that the bishes that “feel” Bane the hardest are the most normal, suburban, boring-ass white girls. They won’t PIITB and don’t even have daddy issues (therefore unsmashable.) I think it’s more of a “I have nothing to actually be upset about but I feel obligated to be emotional about something” kind of thing.

  21. nahrhead says:

When I was 13 I had a Bane hoodie but it was the guy from Batman. DOES THAT COUNT?!
    please respond

  22. Lucifersmile says:

Bane is the epitome of MedioCore

  23. Ada says:

I really liked them in 2001 but then stopped listening somewhere around 2003. A couple of months ago I got back into them.

  24. Taytex says:

I definitely have never understood the hype around Bane, as there is a lot of it. Especially up here in the Cleveland area. However, there’s also an equally large amount of people who don’t understand the hype around Bane as well. Lol’ing at a blog dedicated to showing off Bane hoodies.

I LOVE CONVERGE THOUGH FUCK YOU.

  25. shawnyouwillhate says:

As Martin said “this is an extremely important piece of apparel graphic design”.

Singer could be ugliest/worst dressed hardcore dude in the biz via longsleeve multi-colored polo rugby under t-shirt, khaki cargo short, bent brim fitted hats.
