Our guest for the 9th episode of the SYWH podcast is Danny from UPON A BURNING BODY, whose new album just dropped on Sumerian. We chatted about carne asada, fat groupies, how bad your balls smell when you’re on tour, and how UABB might be the best band in the world at writing ‘chug chants’– what more can you ask for?? And for those of you who bitch about the podcasts being too long, you will be happy to know this one is only 20 minutes long.
Here’s “Once Upon A Time In Mexico,” the first single from the new album– you’re moshing! The plot involves some dudes who are planning a Guy Ritchie-style heist, quietly working ‘normal jobs’ waiting patiently until the time is right for them to spring into action. I really just have two comments:
- What a deviously clever idea for the tattooed Mexican to go undercover as a janitor– talk about the perfect disguise that nobody will ever question!!
- IMO if they are going to get top sektrit messages from The Boss on their iPhones, they should disable “Show Preview” (Notifications->Messages). Could get awkward if their phone is laying on the table while they’re talking to the cops and a notification pops up that says “The Boss: Kill the fucking pigs!”

I hadn’t really heard about these guys before a couple of weeks ago but now they are in my top favorites. A few nights ago I just got hella drunk and listened to Once Upon A Time In Mexico over and over again, that song is so goddamn impressive.
This album goes so fucking hard.

Another backer of long podcasts/posts. I’m obsessed with depth and appalled that people requested LESS content. Just stop listening/reading at 20 minutes if that’s all you want!

I’m glad to hear that you guys like the longer format! I personally think 60-90 minutes is perfect, because the conversation is usually just getting warmed up at 20 minutes.
I didn’t make this one short on purpose BTW, it just felt like it ran out of steam around 18 min so I cut it off there.

Stoked about the new podcast, but i love the length on the old ones. First half on my way to work, second half on my way back and it works great (if off by a few minutes). Long or short, keep these up, the best part of SYWH imo

Who bitches about the podcasts being too long? 20 mins barely worth loding onto y iPhone, should be 2 hours at least. I’d gladly listen to 3 hours of making fun of 90s hardcore a week.
Even though I haven’t listened to the podcast yet, I’m pretty sure I heard u chewing, playing the sitar, calculating something using an abacus, and humming the theme from the A-Team.

But really, I don’t know what this guy was doing during the interview but it seemed like whenever you said an obvious joke he was like “oh uh yeah” like I would have laughed my ass off during this if I were him. Also, huge LOL at the band whining about touring:
