It’s been five years since skramz heroes Dance Gavin Dance put out the legendary dtbm1. Reflect for that a while. Really take it in. If you don’t know who Dance Gavin Dance are, allow me to introduce you, skramz heathen.
Five fucking years. Damn. This has Jonny Craig – AKA the Justin Timberlake of skram – and his soulful leanings mixed with revered skramz priest Jon Mess – AKA the best lyricist ever. Of course you can’t understate the value of Will Swan and Sean O’Sullivan’s incendiary guitar battles, while Eric Lodge and Matt Mingus not only keeps up with the awesomeness, they fucking own it. dtbm1 for life. Skram life. Happy Birthday dtbm1.

For some reason I always wrote these guys off as Risecore or party-dance-core or whatever Sarge calls bands like Woe Is Me and I See Stars (via having a zany as hell name), but this is actually pretty sweet. Thnx brah!
When we were in a band we would play all the DGD albums a lot cause we liked them, and I made up an annoying game where you replace all the vocals with farm animal noises cause no one ever knew the lyrics.
Jonny Craig = Cow, moo’s
Kurt Travis = Horse, neigh’s
Jon Mess = Duck, quack’s
Will Swan = Goose, quack’s
It was really annoying and everyone hated it after like five minutes. I told Jon Mess about it once at a show and he feigned interest. Love all those albums tho.

i don’t know what skramz is. is it like screamo with tap guitars? i feel like a guy whose nephew saw he had a The Used cd in his car and now he talks to me about every new sub-sub-genre there is at holiday get togethers while i nod patiently with a raised brow.

honestly, I think it was great. mostly because I am convinced that Jon Mess is God.

I’m not gonna lie, the only DGD song I know is “Me and Zoloft Get Along Just Fine” and I can dig it. The music video makes them look like the largest band of misfits around (sick girlie hair Kurt)
