You may know illustrator/designer CHUCKBB‘s work from magazines like Decibel and AP, his comics for Boom!, or clients like Disney and Buck.tv. When it comes to making images, he certainly has the ability, and he is good and lovely. We talked shop about the perils of the illustration industry, the balancing act between versatility and a signature style that all creative people maintain, and how ‘concept art’ is really embarrassing. But that’s not REALLY why I wanted to talk with Chuck.
If you are old or one of those weird kids like Uppercut613 that studies obscure 90s pop-punk, you will be happier than a pig in shit. The majority of this episode is us bullshitting about bands like White Kaps, Guttermouth, and Aquabats, FEARLESS RECORDS’ secret past as a z-level pop-punk label, answering the really big question: what was THE definitive 90s pop-punk band???? Check out my 90s POP-PUNK SHOWDOWN if you need to brush up on your history!
I rly liek these cute monsters Chuck designed– maybe they could be the supporting cast on the inevitable episode of Yo Gabba Gabba where Fat Mike cohosts??
