damn… i guess easycore really is dead doe

a few weeks ago, before i brought myself out of this not-posting rut, i was gonna advise all u SYWH readers to check out this siq up-and-coming easycore band call sail to north straight out of france. seeing as their from the same country as easycore heavyweights chunk, no captain chunk! and underrated easycore veterans can’t bear this party (dont care waht u say sarge, their album is amazing) u can hear the influence from those 2 bands in their sound (truthfully all 3 bands sound exactly da same).

the band posted this kewl music video onto utube last year…

they look like theyr havin so much fun in that video , i wish i could hang out with them and be bros with them.

another siq song from their demo^

but in the time i was thinking of making this post and the time i actually got around to making the post, they released some new songs off their upcoming debut album. i was so excited to hear these songs, i even attended their “event” they created on facebook to tell ppl when they released them… but gUESS WHAT?

http://sailtonorth.bandcamp.com/

they went totally tr00… they ditched the keyboards, the breakdowns, and subsequently ditched the fun.the problem with this whole style is that its so bland, that its hard to figure out a reason for existence? its liek mediocrity is wahts hot now. but i knew something was off the second i saw dem hipster haircuts (which is becoming an ongoing epidemic in the easycore/pop punk genre).

examples…

chunk, no captain chunk ^

city lights^

i gues the point im trying to make is , if u like a band , cherish their music while u still can, caus in the blink of an eye they can turn sour. their time in this scene is precious so appreciate them while theyr still around making respectable music. dis is liek srsly a problem doe, even the european bands are becoming tr00 now, easycore is on its deathbed bros…

inb4 the new me vs hero and chunk, no captain chunk albums sound like this.

I don;t know why, but bands playing easycore in French make me like it more. Lyrics are probably as lulzy but I’ll never understand them and can focus on that melodies. now I’m bummed cause I jsut found they be exist :/(

  3. DarthZedd says:

I stumbled out of my cave and went to a hardcore show recently…
Everyone had their hair short and parted to the side. That’s cool and all, but when will Jew banker/George Costanza hair be cool?
I think that’s the one trend I could get behind.

Easycore bands going totally tr00 is like when 90s hardcore bands started wearing Joy Division shirts and tried being all “poetic”.

  5. Mr. u Suk says:

The saving bastion of hope imo is the new songs that Can’t Bear This Party put out that are totally still about keyboards, breakdowns, and super fun shit.

these songs are p. sweet! still not as good as anything on their full length doe. mirin’ that synth @ 16 seconds in the second song

    • thetotalbro says:

Can’t Bear this Party’s new EP is SO fucking sweet! Sad that they’ll never make it in America:(

  6. uppercut613 says:

just wanna say… I DIDN’T KNOW THERE WAS ANOTHER EASYCORE POST SCHEDULED WHEN I WROTE THIS (the one from a few days ago)

i expect this post to get like a max of 10 comments now :( … oh well

    • Latinoheat!!! says:

nah don’t sweat it bro… we got my post to look forward to once i get around to finishing it =D

don’t get mad get glad =]

GTF OFF MY NUTS, U FUCKEN SHIT1!!

Jokes! It was a good post though, so who cares? It is kinda funny that between my post, the tr00 pop punk post, and now yours, it has been “pop punk week” at SYWH. But given that the underlying message of my post was “there is hope for easycore”, yours is “easycore gon’ die”, with the tr00 pop punk post sitting in between by discussing current trends, I think that the subject has received a pretty balanced, extensive treatment overall. Might not be a bad idea to open a thread on the SYWH forum for posters to say when they are doing what, so as not unintentionally get too much of the same thing at one time or whatever.

Tragic easycore was short lived, I hoped the pop punk scene would split and polarise to have either tr00 pop punk bands or easycore. Easycore is the logical progression of what Blink, New Found, BFS and Sum 41 wrote about 10 years ago just with heavier influences.

And fyi Blink 182′s 5th and 6th album at golden, no way in line with tr00 pop punk because they aren’t trying to take their sound to its r00ts. Making great music with less comical lyrics =/= srscore / tr00 pop punk.

      We had a dream :(

But thanks to the ever-shortening life cycle of youth culture trends, it is entirely possible that we will get an easycore revival before tr00 pop punk sucks all the life out of the scene.

LIEK DIS IF U REMEMBER SYNTH BREAKDOWNS

      • 13Enjam!n says:

Guarantee there will totally be an easycore revival in the future. Can’t wait for all the sweet jamz about rediscovering how to have fun and partyin’ with your bros.

  8. Ink Deep says:

This has been in my thoughts all week and I just started making a post about this specific band haha. Solid idea man. Hope You’ll Not Be There was so fucking sick and now it’s all instagram album artwork and no breakdowns…soniamdisappoint.jpeg.

French easycore is still sick though: Can’t Bear This Party’s new tracks fun.

  9. Manualdad says:

Thank you for awaring me to Sail to North. This was a great way to start my friday <3

  10. Sergeant D says:

FWIW, I really don’t see City Lights ever going tr00/srs– they all hang out at Ohio State college slut bars so they are way too busy having fun to start writing acoustic concept albums about the inner turmoil of a railroad worker in 1930s Pennsylvania

    • Save Parker says:

I wonder how many of these fun bands that go tr00 are actually still chill bros, like they just change their image and spout out some vague bullshit cause they want to cash in on this trend.

      • Sergeant D says:

I wish I could convince myself that tr00bonic plague/the SRSWAVE movement was just a cynical marketing ploy, but I am afraid that it’s 100% sincere :(

        • Save Parker says:

well the trend is still pretty small, wundr yrs are probs the biggest lame tr00 band and they’re still just mid level touring opening for older pop punk bands. maybe when sum band gets a tr00 song on rock radio twice a week, like sum simpl plan shit they’ll all go over-board and faker, which will be funnier.

    • I know a bunch of chicks from my High School who went to OSU, wonder what the chances are Chase has smashed ‘em

I laugh every time I see one of these vague Howard Zinn ish references. You have a new, equally funny one at every opportunity. If someone dug through SYWH posts and wrote down each of them, they’d have enough subjects for an entire album of tr00 something or other.

Do you get these from real tr00 songs or are they made up on the spot? PLZ RESPOND

  11. Heroinjesus says:

As long as fun, breakdowns and crachy as balls choruses live in our hearts, easycore will never die and troo will never win

  12. For what it’s worth, the new song CNCC played at Warped is very fun and catchy. No synths tho :[

  13. 13Enjam!n says:

I can’t wait to get my “Easycore’s not dead” t-shirt. I hope NFG’s merch team is on top of that.

  14. J_hunter says:

So sad that its already over, I was just starting to like easycore more than tech-dm, but I can’t get behind this 90s pop-punk stuff–
I’m alright with no fun, but its just not moshable.

  15. Anonymous says:

me vs hero have a new album coming out soon. there is still some good easycore bands out there, the genre will come back stronger.

  16. Bewb says:

Feel like I’m the only one who digs easycore and tr00 pop-punk (along with srscore and ikeacore). Basically I dig almost every band this blog shits on (and posts like this and the other tr00 pop-punk/easycore posts are my favorites). It’s just music and you bros bring the lulz.

That being said, I don’t do drugs, drink or stab guts of random bishes (not edge doe – I’m not a xfaggotx). But I’m always down to party with my bros (and stoked to drive their drunk asses home if needed).

Anyone else fall somewhere in between like this?

  17. Keka says:

    CITY LIGHTS NOOOOOOO

I guess they wouldn’t rather hang out with their friends anymore :(

  18. fuzz says:

kinda sad that C!NCC!’s vocalist went full 50′s cooldad

  19. venezuelandude says:

All I have to say is… DAT FOREHEAD!!! FUCK!

  20. Bailey says:

If CNCC and Four Year Strong had a baby, it would be Sail to North.

  21. Tai says:

Easycore can’t be dead… both easycore and popcore are… well, not new, but widely unknown. This band probably went straight up pop punk for more popularity. Music can never truly die.
