Rumors of a VOD reunion have been going around for a few years, but I figured nothing would come of it. I mean, I love VOD with all my heart, but the many rumored, non-existant 18 VISIONS reunions taught me not to get my hopes up- nobody wants to see me get my dreams shattered and spend the rest of the week rocking back and forth, crying myself to sleep and cradling a copy of the ‘Still’ 7″.
Well, not only is VOD back, but they have a new record dropping Sept 18th via Candlelight Records (lol)! As if this wasn’t enough good news for one day, I was flattered/amused to see that they quoted me in the official press release (almost as funny as when I got DEMOLISHER signed to Century Media):
My quote is in pink, other lulzy bits highlighted as well– brb going insane because of their hard, driving sound. And I cannot speak for Matt from SHAI HULUD but I assume that the groove he mentioned is ‘Rhythm Of The AK.’

Also, VOD is the shit, but I couldn’t get into them until I saw that one chick with the giant thing through her nose from the NYHC documentary go on about how “Suffer” was her all-time favorite song (with accompanying live footage). The new song I heard by them was pretty sweet, so I’m looking forward to hearing how the rest of the album turns out.
iirc she even had “suffer” tattooed on her inner lip :(

One of my first hardcore bands .Dat self-titled is awesome along with everything else they have put out. Imprint is so fucking angry, Fuck i love all of their stuff. “Ways To Destroy One’s Ambition: gives me a boner whenever i listen to it.
My brother is in the photo on the back of the first album. It always cracks me up when I see it.
I can’t really get into them anymore, but their shows in Long Island in the 90′s were bananas.

First time I saw them was in 1994 in Connecticut in a coffee/juice bar at an indoor tennis facility – Opening band: Hatebreed.
Ah yes, back when Hatebreed cancelled or no-showed over half their shows. I swear to god I went to at least 4 aborted Hatebreed shows in 1997 alone, no joke
Jamey booked all the good shows in CT and, naturally, put Hatebreed on all of them. I saw them at least once a week for a solid year or two around 95/96. . . and they weren’t writing a lot of new songs during that period.

I’m exaggerating, but yes I awared CM’s A&R dude to them and Monsters in like 09, and they quoted me in the press release for the Demolisher signing… so I didn’t ‘get them signed’ per se but I played a role.
Nice to see that SYWH is expanding its influence and becoming a worldwide cultural phenomenon.
