The first single and first track off of All We Love We Leave Behind, Aimless Arrow, has me more than a bit confused. I’m not sure if this is a continuation of their doing more progressive (i.e. Axe to Fall) and less brutal stuff or if it’s straight skramz revivalist.
But then again, they did do an Entombed cover on a new split with Napalm Death. Maybe I’m just getting old and I’m sad that it’s not exactly like Jane Doe.

Am I worried about these changes I see in one of the last bastions of real hardcore nerdery? Not really. It’s less dissonant and intense, but your girlfriend probably won’t complain when you put it on because it sounds like that one tumblrcore band she really loves instead of a record cut out of a chalkboard.
And if 90′s hardcore bands start jocking the style of new bands that jock obscure 90′s hardcore bands, does that signal the beginning of the tr00pocalypse? The sounding of the seventh trumpet, if you will. Are kids going to be mad that oldbros are cramping their style and descend to new depths of butthurt, or will they feel totally honored and fangirl like they just got backstage at a One Direction show? Will we finally see this horrible resurgence of the NFC go up in flames and return to simpler times of neon and partycore? One can only hope. Either way, we’ll probably get to enjoy seeing a bunch of Converge fanboys black out on rageahol because of this.
The real question is, will Touche Amore pull another stunt like the now legendary NEGATIVE APPROACH diss? Considering that they’re doing a euro tour with them, we’ll probably find out soon.
They’re also doing a US tour in support of the new album dropping with Kvelertak and Nails and I AM FUCKING STOKED AND READY TO GET BUCK!
The album’s due October 9th and I’m probably going to spend too much money on the double LP :(

doesnt really matter, their new album has a shitload of songs on it, one 2 1/2 min song isnt really a change in direction. love em or hate em it will be a converge album with like 10 rippers and 3-4 slower drawn out noisy as fuck songs. They played 4 new songs when i saw em live in march (including aimless arrows) and the other ones went harder.
hopefully metalsucks leaks it soon so i can give it a listen.

Before any of you talk any shit about Converge…just know that I have some VERY powerful magix the gathering cards & I’m not afraid to use them!
Is TA signed on Deathwish? Or associated with DW in anyway cuz as far as I know they sell their stuff on the DW merch store. SRS opinion, I thought the new song wasn’t bad, I appreciate the melodic aspect of Converge more than their “lets try cramming in as many riffs into a 2 minute song and add in wacky drumming and top it off with banshee howling vocals” stuff anyway.

Sounds a lot like some of the tunes on No Heroes and Axe to Fall (which sucked bad for the record). The track is OK but the “hard” part at the end is kinda weak. I’m also kinda sick of the bassist singing any parts on Converge songs.
I’ll def buy this, listen to it a few times, then go back to listening to Jane Doe and previous releases.

Converge is one of the bands I jut don’t “get”. I’ve tried to listen to Jane Doe and Axe to Fall a bunch of times but i cannot get into them. Their albums sounds like they wrote 10 super brutal hardcore songs, but then put them in a blender so all of the riffs ended up as a mess. As soon as something cool starts happening in one of their songs, they change it 3.5 seconds later.

I really like Jane Doe. I think Axe to Fall is awful, and I think No Heroes and You Fail Me are pretty hit and miss.
Their earlier stuff (oldfaggotry alert) is pretty classic hardcore/metalcore or whatever the fuck. Petitioning the Empty Sky, some 7″s, When Forever Comes Crashing, Poachers Diaries… all much more “accessible” and less riff/drum-fill salad.
I think it sounds more like Circa Survive than Touche Amore actually haha
The last thirty seconds of the songs really touched me. Why did I waste my time on that girl? I gaved her the world and she threw it all back in my face when she told me we should see other people…. I still think about what we had. The only thing I learnt from our experience is how to actually feel real pain.

Sounds like Converge. Don’t get where it sounds any different from anything they have written. It just seems like Kurt finally figured out how to mix an album without it sounding like complete garbage. The reason their stuff sounds so cluttered is because his production is fucking terrible most of the time.
yeah, i think you nailed it. I hated the production of the “newer” converge records. While i like Jane Doe and and the ones after they sounded muffled as hell. This sounds a lot less muddy.
I love converge and really like this song. It does seem a bit different but the same still. Maybe I shoul listen to touche amore…
