Do u live AN EMO LIFE?

So today I found this video series on Youtube that really expresses what life is like for me as an emo kid. Whoever made this REALLY GETS ME, and understands that my being emo isn’t a choice, it’s WHO I AM!

Part 1 begins with the main character, getting in trouble with the law and getting abused by her a**hole stepdad, who treats her like sh*t. He rly needs to f*ck off and leave Marissa alone, he just doesn’t understand!

They could have seen me drunk, and the last thing I need is another MIP, my parents would KILL ME!

Later on poor Marissa is subjected to the world’s fastest, most insane emotional rollercoaster ever when she meets a hot boy && finds out he has a girlfriend. :( But then she finds out they’re just friends and say that because they’re really close friends lololol.

The best part of the video was the soundtrack choice. Your Love Is My Drug by Ke$ha is really great at capturing the state of mind Marissa must be in. She’s in pain but she just wants to have fun and find true love to hold on to in this cold, dark world. If you want to check out all the rest of her adventures and live the Emo Life, check out Youtube user Katluv22′s page and if it speaks to you let her know, it always helps to know that your art is appreciated by someone.

    Emo: the shit scene.

  2. beholdthesharktopus says:

I’m pretty sure this was done totally unironically, too. People are still emo in 2012.

  3. Zoloft says:

it doesn’t surprise me that a fat girl did this

  4. I also like the fish says:

    Fat emo chicks suck.
I’d take a fat scene chick over an emo one any day

Not sure what the difference is, tbh. It seemed that since “scene” and “emo” blew up, they had a lot of overlap (ie: the dudes at my school rocking 18 Visions hair also always seemed to like Cursive), and that only became more pronounced as the decade wore on. By the time I saw Reggie And The Full Effect in 2006, I couldn’t tell if I was at a scene show or an emo show (via everybody looking about the same, anyway).

      • Sergeant D says:

honestly the difference is pretty clear once you ‘immerse urself in the culture.’ for example, MCR vs Millionaires– there is nothing emo about Millionaires. scene is (was) about partying and dgafing bc #yolo, not being sad. there are some visual similarities but even those are minimal imo.

I’d never argue that that ideologically, there is a clear difference between scene and emo, but on a totally surface level, at least from where I was living in 2000-2004, there was definitely a fair amount of overlap. At least at my high school, the same kids listened to Atreyu and 18V were just as likely to also jam on Alkaline Trio and Bright Eyes. By the time I moved and was peeping the uncommon emo shows down south, neon was fully in effect, and I was still seeing plenty of that when I’d go to see bands. These days, modern scene is about as mopy as emo was always perceived to be anyway (see: BOTDF), so whatever clearer differences once existed before are not pretty minute. But that’s just my opinion, man.

Somehow, I made it through the whole thing. Brutally painful stuff (not just because of the emotional rollercoaster the plot sends you on, either), but thankfully, “thezenarcadian” commented to set her straight:

“What the fuck am I watching? Emo? Y’all ever heard of Rites of Spring? If not, I have news for you…”

Husker Du reference in SN + Rites Of Spring reference = guranteed annoying tr00fag 17 – 20 year old .

    • Sergeant D says:

i don’t think i have ever actually heard Rites Of Spring. I heard Fugazi a couple of times and that was enough for me to be 100% certain I would violently hate ROS so I never bothered.

Looking back, I am happy with this decision.

They are important influence on most things that aren’t fun about tumblr-popular alternative music today. Although they are pretty sloppy (their album sounds like ass) and they only had a couple songs I really liked, I’ll once again put my fggtry on record by saying that I did definitely listen to a fair amount of Embrace (Ian McKaye’s pre Fugazi/post Minor Threat) and Dag Nasty back in the early/mid 00s :(

        • Sergeant D says:

I also deliberately never listened to Embrace. Sure, I guess you could say that it’s possible I’ll like it but idk… it’s also possible I would like the taste of diarrhea but I am going to just play it safe and never taste it.

  6. I just know that whoever made this got mildly frustrated with their photos being different aspect ratios and not knowing why it was happening and I find it really funny.

fucking proxtube doesn’t seem to work for me anymore. i want to watch this too much.

  8. demcats says:

some srsly amazing quotes (the best one is the screencapped one tho) in this I may have to remember for further reference:

“hello officer or who ever you are”
    *pushes her down the stairs*
“yeah we say boyfriend and girlfriend because i am a boy who is her friend and she is a girl who is my friend”
*gets up but is not fast enough*
“no one heard her scream only one person did in her dream”
and, of course: “the next moring…”

also, dat cherry background at 3:12

  9. Void Eater says:

P sure that irl a hot skinny emo boy would end up getting assraped, literally and figuratively, by the abusive stepdad.

  10. RJG says:

Someone re-cut this as an RPG with the FF theme song instead of Ke$ha (sorry bb, I still ATTACK -> STEPDAD
    -HAWTGIRL EMO -> RUN AWAY!
    VICTORY!
