Hot Girl’s Guide For Getting into the Dubstep

roughly this level of hot. only on x and dancing all crazy. why would listen to any other kind of music?

Ayo, so I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I really dig dubstep. Its the future of music, and finally a brand of fun electronic based music that is legitimately blowing up in the US mainstream. And more importantly, really really hot chicks are into it by the millions. My only problems is I have no idea where to start listening, cause there are a ton of dubstep producer bros and I can’t tell like any of them apart yet.

So I asked my hot friend who’s into dubstep for a list of dubstep dude’s to check out that would impress hot girls. She gave me this list, which should highlight the dubsteps appreciated by hot girls, and thus the only ones that are really important. A great starting point for any clueless bro with no knowledge on even the basic EDM to try and get laid by a cute rave chick. I know I’ll try next time I’m in the club, hope it helps someone out there<3

1. DEADMAU5 – “Raise Your Weapon”

I don’t think I ever heard a full Deadmau5 song before, but this one is trippin me out. Definitely makes me want to do a bunch of drugs and fuck in a back room somewhere, so this is like perfect right away. There’s a 4 minute version too, but only could find a weird fanvideo for it and it was lame so I went with the long one.

2. Skrillex – “Promises”

I totally heard this one before a bunch of times, I think its on a party playlist I made. But its a jam and Skrillex makes tons of those. He might be really entry level, but hot girls might only know Skrillex, so this is a must to get into. Bring up some Skrilly, she’ll say she loves that song, then later you make out, and probably a lot more. My hot girl confirmed it:

3. BENNY BENASSI – “Cinema”

This song is pretty huge, and Skrillex has a dope remix to it so you might want to check out both. I def like the Skrillex one better, cause that drop hits hard, but this one is dope too. I remember Benassi from that song “Satisfaction” way back in the day, I shoulda kept up and I would be way ahead of the game. If only I had known :/ But this is pretty accessible and poppy, plus there’s a cute fake red head girl in the video. Its all pretty awesome and I love it.

4. CALVIN HARRIS – “You Used To Hold Me”

I really dig this Calvin Harris bro, he’s been famous since that Rihanna song he made got all huge. And that’s good, dude makes hits, his ‘Feels So Close’ song is already blowing up on its own, betting on him to be a huge name really soon. This song makes me want to hold my cute girl in a huge crowd and dance like its no one else but us out there <3

5. NERO – “Promises” (again)

I know only a little bit about dubstep right now, but there are a few things about which I am sure:

1. Most DJ’s do a lot of remixes of popular songs and other dubstep songs, and they work together on stuff and that’s pretty chill. If you go into a dubstep show by someone you’ve never heard of you’ll probably at least recognize a remix and will definitely have a good time. Don’t miss out because some no name dude is DJing, he’ll probably just drop hits and get the party bumpin.

2. BITCHES FUCKING LOVE NERO

6. BASSHUNTER – “Pretty Rave Girl”

I know this song is pretty old, but this remix is dope and hot girls loooooove Basshunter. Not to be confused with Bassnectar who have a similar name, but are probably mostly jocked by dubstep dudes. Liking music that mostly dudes like is a waste of time, so listen to a ton of Basshunter first and then maybe some Bassnectar if you got time to kill. These lyrics still describe all my hopes in dreams, cause man do I love some pretty rave girls. One day <3

So check out these songs and maybe Spotify some more, call up your bros, buy a bunch of ecstasy and hit the clubs! If ya’ll go home without hot ladies, there was nothing more I could do. You can at least strike out and dance like a champion. Best of luck!

Feel So Close by Calvin Harris came out before the song with Rihanna, for obvious reasons the Rihanna song probably got popular quicker in ‘Merica, but I think he was blowing up everywhere else because of Feel So Close. Which is good, at least we know he can make catchy as shit songs without having to fly under the banner of someone more famous

Also: “Liking music that mostly dudes like is a waste of time”

Dude, Feel So Close is one of my favorite party jamz ever. It’s still on the radio and I still have plenty of pleasant memories of getting shit faced to it. <3 u electronic music, thanks for bringing the party.

I didn't know it was dubstep doe. I always assumed dubstep was the genre I only liked when drunk (which is totally fine by me!) but this thread is making me reconsider that.

  11. fuzz says:

Flux Pavillion, Knife Party, and Datsik are all excellent choices as well. PROTIP: stay more towards groups like Knife Party, their music is more electrohouse than dubstep, but it’s the funnest shit out there and entry level bishes can’t tell the difference between it and dubstep anyway.

  12. beholdthesharktopus says:

The style that’s really taking off is the chill atmospheric stuff, like Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, Paper Diamond, Glitch Mob, Mimosa, etc. Seen Pretty Lights play two sold out shows in the past year, DO NOT MISS if he comes to your area, score some Molly or X and find a hot slut to grind up on your junk.

  17. MasterSlave says:

It should be pointed out that most of the artists on here ie. mau5, benassi and calvin harris have been around a while and are not really dubstep artists per se, just kind of experimenting with it on these tracks (which aren’t very good examples of ds). That aside I’m with you on dubstep being awesome and wanting to know more about it. I think you may be my favorite non-sarge poster. Definitely check out knife party

    • Save Parker says:

Knife Party and Zed’s Dead are the only dubssteps I actually downloaded to my computer, I don’t think I ever played the Knife Party one. But talking about what is or isn’t dubstep, you’re bout to scare away all the hot chicks. C’mon man, you’re almost there!

      • lulz says:

scare what hot chick? there are no hot chick in here!

      • MasterSlave says:

I’m kind of suspicious that this whole post is a meta-joke where you deliberately posted music that is ‘not dubstep’. Anyway if I was trying to pick up chicks I would avoid the topic of music. In fact, I would avoid most topics I am interested in. :)

  18. lulz says:

99% of girls who say they like dubstep mean in fact they like fidget house…u wanna bang girls, go fidget (most skrillex stuff is fidget not dubstep)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNStVlJWy88

also i dont know about u but when listening to dubstep I dont really need fun enhancers. If must, take mdma, not ecstasy, not only can ecstasy be dangereous these days but mdma is the only real good ingredient in a pill, so why take a pill with a bit of mdma and a lot of crap with it if u can just take the good shit??

  22. Great music I gotta say!

  23. Jon says:

  24. rosé boratto says:

amercians, you can tell the difference between a house and a dubstep track, but everything else is techno for you?

    • sorryfornotbeinganuthugger says:

They can’t even tell the difference between any electronic music. It is all techno to them, of which they seem to think dubstep is a subgenre LOL.
Also they think dance music or ‘EDM’ as they like to call it was invented a few years ago by David Guetta

      • lulz says:

        David Guetta is the shiiiiiiiiiiiat

        • Latinoheat!!!! says:

pshh.. us troo mericans’ know that tekno was invented by sum black guys in detroit… get off deez nuts….

  25. Lionel Richie says:

I don’t know how it works over there in the Americas but here in the United Snags of Australia, dubstep is dying down and going heading towards an underground movement. The massive nu-dubstep craze peaked in 2011 but maybe that’s just my area.
Then again I do hear that a lot of people mentioning they had never heard of it until Bangarang was on the radio, facepalms, on the rocks.

That Calvin Harris song ain’t dub btw.

    • TLDR says:

      underground movement

      movement? really?

    • sven_mcsven says:

Far as I can tell dubstep’s still at the top, but I dun pay that much attention so idk

      >That Calvin Harris song ain’t dub btw.

Neither is that Basshunter song (or any basshunter song for that matter, though I haven’t paid much attention to him at all over the past several years so who knows). but who’s counting… :v

    • dudebro says:

Nu-dubstep…. that is genius. I’m calling all this stuff that now. I thought dubstep was a mix of dub music and uk 2 step house. i’m dead srs. If I can’t hear any dub in there, it ain’t dubstep to me. Doesn’t matter anyways, I don’t really listen to it anymore but if the girl that is considering fukin me likes it then I ain’t gonna try and correct her haha. I just don’t have time to get mad about people getting genres wrong anymore : /

  26. Greg says:

disagree on the whole showing a bitch entry level shit that she already knows to give her a nice pat on the back. gonna be srs and say most of these girls who are mad into dubstep are pretty fucking dumb and they love nothing more than a big man coming and taking them by the hand and showing them some dubstep they dont know. not like mad obscure shit that no one is gonna be able to like but stuff that isnt every 14 year olds ring tone. also agreed with earlier posts, can’t stress getting md/x for this because even the worst fucking dubstep will sound like the best song you’ve ever heard. that or get really hammered.

  27. chh says:

yeah, don’t rly know what the eff ur on about. 50% of what you posted is just entry radiomusic as in ‘gets played to death on the radio’ and calling it ds is a gigantic reach. be a douche about it, u still pulled this post straight from ur ass

Sorry but nothing posted here has anything to do with dubstep.

      • lulz says:

perhaps its not certain genres that cause butthurt but simply misleading posts / poorly researched posts…

can it be that amerifags just dont care as much about straight facts as eurofags and just take whatever post is around as the momentarely truth while eurofags go “ehm…wait a minute somethings not right here”?

for ex. compare political discussions on both continent and 1) the amount of fact stretching arguments 2) the amount of people blindly following the arguments just because of the source it comes from?

        • VyceVictus says:

….This is a comedy blog. You are certainly living up to the stereotype of a humorless european. Its one thing if you dont think its funny, but its weird to be so seriously adamant about music classifications when, as has been discussed many times on this site, is simply not worth arguing over.

          • Nightshift says:

Honestly I think this place and most other humor websites, shows whatever should stick to humor and avoid the after school special crap. 99% of the advice I’ve seen doled out online, solicited or not, has been self-aggrandizing bullshit to inflate the author’s ego. Sheepish people will lap it up because they don’t have the balls to try to figure out anything on their own and are so scared of failing that they’ll listen to any line of bullshit if it’s presented confidently.

Hint: Most guys who are really good at something aren’t out telling everyone how to do shit because they’re smart enough to realize that they only know what worked for them.

          • lulz says:

i was just wondering about this europe/america clash that seems to be going on in a lot of comments on a lot of posts on this blog…i mean, there must be a reason for this other than “eurofags are all stupid butthurt fags” or “all amerifags are undereducated stupid cunts”

sorry for trying to bring some thoughts about cultural differences on this blog…

a free tip for you: dont take all the butthurt too seriously! Its so easy to cause butthurt with butthurt in here (yeah kind of contradictory ;)), the spiral makes my head all funny

            • Sergeant D says:

the ironing of euros getting butthurt about jokes about them being butthurt… i originally said that stuff as a joke but it turns out to be 100% accurate

              • lulz says:

so thinking and trying to understand a random phenomenon is beeing butthurt now? wtf? that post was about differences, not about “we better, u suck” but apparently everything that is not just “u so great i luv u” gets labled as butthurt

fact is one can read a lot of this kind of arguments here and i dont think all (perhaps just a very few) were meant as a joke (coming from both sides)

when i read this post, i was already seeing this monumental wave of butthurt coming after the first song! so i decided to surf on it cause its much moar fun than just watching and i had a not so busy-kind of boring day at work…but that gets old pretty quickly so i started to think about it and the various reactions it caused…

Mala is one half of Digital Mystikz, pioneering South London dubstep duo. Dude is imitating the way he speaks (totally exaggerated of course); he is seen as a sort of figurehead for ‘old-school’ dubstep (I shudder that I had to use that phrase but kinda necessary for the explanation).

  47. TLDR says:

Alright faggots, listen up. This post is not about dubstep at all. It’s basically about how to get laid. I’m pretty sure its really up front about that too. It is also not aimed at tr00 dubstep nerds, or even people who already go out and get laid. It’s basically a guide for people like me, who know absolutely nothing about either dubstep OR clubbing/fun.

Noobs like me need to have things explained very simply, and the details of the genre are completely irrelevant to their female attracting value. The fact is, to the majority of mainstream people (who by their definition don’t care about classifying music), the above artists probably ARE dubstep. Classify shit differently on your message boards all you want, the majority really does not care. I’d be willing to bet that if you asked a ton of mainstream people and hot girls to name dubstep artists, the above mentioned would come up constantly. Deal with it, faggots.

All the butthurt commenters in here bring a certain No Warning quote to mind:

I’ll take a good look at you, so I know exactly how I DON’T wanna be.

Thanks for your nice post trying to help people like me out, Parker!

    • nimplysaked says:

So you think you’ll be able to get laid by showing a girl some music playlist you made?
      Dream on cuz

If you know nothing about clubbing/fun maybe you should go to a club, instead of getting your tips from a comedy website about hardcore!?

      • Nightshift says:

It’s more complicated. Apparently, you have to play it in your car, so when you roll up to da club playing the same music they’re playing in da club with the windows of your 1994 Civic rolled down a hot rave gurl will disregard the 45 other dudes sniffing her ass and want to ride your tiny dick until your pelvis is crushed.

      • ultraspatial says:

        this 100%

Also, consider going to more “proper” house or techno clubs/nights… more “normal” girls there imo, as opposed to the attention whoring raver gash that show up for skrillex shows. Depends on what you’re into though.

        • nimplysaked says:

Yeah this, I don’t why people on this site assume that ‘proper’ house / techno / dubstep / D&B nights are devoid of girls. Go to Fabric, Cable etc in London and there is plenty of gash there (<3 u fit international student girls).

I'm not sure I've met known over the age of 17 to like Skrillex etc. Maybe his shows are good for pedos to attend tho, I don't know.

          • ultraspatial says:

Exactly. It’s still a rave after all. It attracts a shitload of people, plenty of which don’t have anything with the music played. It’s not a ‘heads only thing like some random anarcho vegan sxe beardocore basement show.

          • lulz says:

if u really want HOT girls around here, forget metal, forget eletrostuff – go latinobeats!!! it can be souk, salsa or anything like that…but oh yeah….actually got to learn how to dance :(

so lets stay on the entry level…and try to fuck some poor drugged up girl and lets pheel all alpha bout it!!

      • TLDR says:

So you think you’ll be able to get laid by showing a girl some music playlist you made? (inb4 straw man fallacy)

Where the fuck did anyone say that? I’m p sure thats the OPPOSITE of what Parker said. His main point is, here is some mainstream music, now go out and get some, the music itself is obviously not going to do this on its own.

It’s like saying, “here’s some metal/hardcore (Asking Alexandria, Emmure, etc). Now go out and get some tumblrsluts”

If this were the post, would you proceed to bombard it with butthurt comments about REAL hardcore/metal?

        • Nightshift says:

          LOL QUOTES FUNCTION

“Where the fuck did anyone say that? I’m p sure thats the OPPOSITE of what Parker said.”

          Parker Sez:
“So I asked my hot friend who’s into dubstep for a list of dubstep dude’s to check out that would impress hot girls.”

        • nimplysaked says:

Maybe you should read the article again, faggot.

Also why do you need someone to tell you what music girls like, and the places they tend to congregate? It’s pretty easy to figure it out by yourself. I think you have been to too many hardcore / metal shows and haven’t lived in the ‘real world’ enough. Just go to a nightclub, you don’t even need to know the songs beforehand, they are all in 4/4 anyway, just do some standard dance moves

    • Save Parker says:

<3 I skimmedd that but you probs get it. <3 <3

This post should hopefully inspire something similar to the scene in Freaks and Geeks where James Franco buys a bunch of entry-level punk records and changes his style to impress a cute punk girl. He made the mistake of caring about being called a poser, which I would hope you guys aren't dumb enough to make. You get to bang the chicks and like the music without getting involved in the detailed subculture bullshit that doesn't matter.

        LOL BOOM

congrats on making an excessively butthurt post BTW

        was entertained

I also wouldn’t be half surprised if this post kept magnetizing butthurt way after its gone cold, like the stretched ears goldmine.

Dubstep is popular enough, you never know ;)

        • Save Parker says:

i didn’t even intend to attract any butthurt, which is why I was surprised when it first occurred. If only I had more hindsight I would’ve adjusted the post to say a little bit about how what is actually dubstep doesn’t matter at all.

          • lulz says:

oh man just stop putting the blame on the topic! its the quality of ur research that caused all this…

Beeing all funny and witty is not about talking shit about subjects u dont really know shit about. Its about knowing something so good, u can talk about it in ur sleep and find the little incoherent things no one else thinks about and turn them into jokes. Like D does on most of his posts…read and learn…its all in front of you so should be not too hard…

i think i already wrote something like that but u just dont seem to get it!

ever seen a comedian talking clueless stuff about a topic? Saddest thing on earth!

            • Zoloft says:

it’s not really his fault, he asked a girl, and everybody knows that girls don’t actually like music

            • Save Parker says:

Only research I did was asking the hot girl to name some dubstep bros and a few songs by them that hot girls dig. Anymore would’ve been missing the point, which I still don’t think you grasp even at all :/

            • Superfist says:

everybody gets what you’re trying to say dude. you’re the one missing the point. nobody cares whether or not this stuff is “real” dubstep or not. it’s what hot chicks would probably consider dubstep and that’s really all that matters for the purposes of this article. caring about semantics is so dumb, especially when it comes to music where there’s so much gray area between genres that every single artist could have their own genre if we wanted to break it down that far.

              • lulz says:

lol no u still dont get what i mean :( semantic is not my point, only a bad joke perhaps… i really dont care about what people call dubstep, brostep, dudestep or whatever, when i go electro i prefer breakcore anyway and borgore or not dubstep and so on ;)

                my point is (drumroll)

dont write stupid stuff on a public place like this blog and get all wet when someone points out how stupid that stuff really is…

“mimimi u butthurt + u dun get mah posts point :( butthurt eurofag meeeeeeeeeh..u no fun” is all we heard from u and this ofc will just call for more and more

like i said ure idea with the girl making a list and so on is a real good one. Ur mistake was not to care to learn anything about the topic before writing this article and that makes u look like a clueless poser to people who actually listen to dubstep. With only a few hours of research and by putting some more thoughts into it, this post couldve been one of the best guest posts ever!!

but once u start with the crying, arguing about the semantics (which make u cry even more) becomes a lot of fun (because it makes u cry and gheys from the internet like me luv themselves some tears)

good research is everything in comedy…u also would just shake ure head if some random guy who never listened anything like metal, hardcore, punk or rock would write something stupid about any of these genre without having a clue…because its not funny, its just lame and stupid.

  48. sweatdripsfrommyballs says:

Ok Mr. Troo Dubstep professor “know it alls”, riddle me this if Skrillex isnt dubstep then why under his wikipedia page his genre is listed as dubstep? who’s the retard now faggots? its facts man, and you can’t argue with facts. And don’t gimme that wikipedia is not legit balonie, 100% percent you community college homosexes copy and paste wikipedia for your final term essay the night before submissions anyway.

    • Zoloft says:

Skrillex and Nero are dubstep, tr00 dubstep fans might call them brostep or some shit like that, but it’s still dubstep, like limp bizkit and korn, they are nu metal, which is still metal, even if the trv kvlt army says the contrary
The “problem” are the other artist, who don’t classify as dubstep

inb4 lolol buthurrt jewrophag u been troled

      • nimplysaked says:

Nero primarily make D&B and Skrillex also makes some eletro-house etc but both have produced dubstep, yes. I’m not sure anyone is arguing that fact. What they make is not representative of the majority of dubstep, it’s just what’s popular right now. I’m not butthurt about this btw, just thought I’d contribute.

        • sweatdripsfrommyballs says:

Ok 100 percent real talk here, I listen to some electronic music here and there and I cant diffrenciate between dubstep and brostep or whatever other edm that has step in its name. Genre naming dont really mean much to me as long as I know what the genres sound like. This article itself kinda utilizes the same concept I assume. Where the generalization of most edm along the lines of Skirllex and Nero and Deadmau5 are being categorized as Dubstep (other artists on the list not them). It maybe a stretch or it maybe wrong but for what its worth humor the article and just play along. (oh look the last sentence rhymes it must be a rap verse then)

          • Nightshift says:

Can 1 out of 10 people can tell the difference between Terror and Sepultura? Will faggots like you get pissed off when people call TROO HARDCORE metal anyway?

            • sweatdripsfrommyballs says:

I srsly couldn’t care less about the difference between hardcore (via not being a fuck up) and 1980′s tribal thrash metal (via not being a virgin). They both sound the same and i would categorize them as hardcore + metal. Same goes to Defeater, Touche Amore, Sick of it all, Hatebreed, Terror, Comeback Kid, they all hardcore + metal as far as I care.

              • Nightshift says:

I’ve never listened to Touche Amore or Defeater (via not being a beta).

                • sweatdripsfrommyballs says:

Its not about the bands, just using it as an example that although the sound of those bands may differ, casual listeners will probably generalize them into the same common genre, because tbh most people don’t really care enough about knowing or liking a song’s or artist’s genre. I’m not against your opinions and I do agree with some of the points you make in other posts, just my thoughts on generalizing music genres.

              • lulz says:

all bands u mentioned are in fact blending metal and hardcore to various degrees…so we on the same page!

                • sweatdripsfrommyballs says:

This bro gets it. What I think is, most electro music share a common sound(via beats, instrumentation, composition) that most casual listeneners would just consider it to be dubstep / edm without delving to far from the subject, just like every other genre of music with a million micro sub genres, generalization makes things easier and non complicated.

        • lulz says:

Am I the only girl about to post a comment?

Anyone here not from euro have u heard of spring awakening? If not here is a fyi its a concert like warped tour but with dubstep music all the ppl listed up there were playing that day so idc if u consider it or not it is.
Another thing coming from someone who has done molly in a deadmau5 show must say shit was awesome but it was good too being sober the music is the thing that makes you wanna get a guy to dance with you especially if they like the song too.
Conclusion id dance maybe bang a guy at any of the above concerts

  51. ultraspatial says:

Chase & Status – Saxon — Nicki Minaj freestyled over this & they produced for Rihanna

I kinda wish this post was about Dub War instead though.

  56. Notderek says:

Its the “I don’t 100% agree with your subjective opinion on creative material therefore you must be 100% wrong” mindset that makes caring about stuff ghey :(

    >Girl buttons up clothes
    >You remain one of the final bastions of “true dubstep”, prepared “stay in the dark, with people whose interests you actually share” instead of being in the company of easygoing people

      this man has the ability

    • lulz says:

the correct terminology is “real dubstep” not “true dubstep” :p

titties in the room: no argument as shes not trying to be funny but sexy, i got no problem with that (should be clear by now) but to be honest im not sure about the sexiness of this girl if she really wanna do this dance on dubstep or fidget or whatever cause lets be honest most people just look like autists having an attack or something when dancing to this…im more for something south american in these situations. (never had a normal, radio listening girl say no to that) i sure as hell wouldnt say no but id know this is no long term ;)

I was out of town for one night, and I returned to check out the new post from SYWH’s resident pop wizard, I found what was once surely a good and lovely post reduced to a desolate rubble of butthurt by nuclear explosion of faggotry. Sad :(

    • XheartburnX says:

the problem is that apparently his pop wizardry doesn’t extend to sub genres of electronic music, and that has made some people on the internet very upset.

  66. what the hell happened here

  67. Bobby says:

For something that started in the 90’s in London, mostly played in basement parties to a small fan-base, it really has come along way. I feel butt-hurt that you Ameri-fags turned something respectable and changed it into poor taste.

    • Bronson says:

On behalf of my country, I deeply apologize for our taking the high art of dubstep and reducing it to cheap party fodder. Given that Europe (and especially the UK) has been ripping off musical trends from the US and churning out shitty, inferior versions for decades (ie: The Beatles, and I mean, c’mon, you guys even managed to make rockabilly revival more embarrassing than it already is here!), maybe we could consider this even?

    • Tea Party Patriot says:

Fuck you faggot, nothing that’s ever come out of your pansy ass country has ever been respectable. We took the obscure trash you made and made it into something good (read:American), deal with it.

Yeah but there wouldn’t be any thinly veiled lessons about coming of age or growing up or any of that sappy bullshit.

The Bounce Rap one would write itself. I remember hearing DJ Jubilee at jr high dances in 1994.

  73. XheartburnX says:

I dont understand why everyone is getting all nit picky about this. Electronic isn’t even real music. It’s worse than rap and country.

Holy shit 303 comments of pure butthurt in like 2 days.

How much butthurt did the gold standard of “Stretched Ears” derive?

I seriously bet this post could contend for the title. Let’s see if it magnetizes butthurt for years to come

    • Save Parker says:

this has more comments than the stretched ears post, but probably a lower percentage of pure butthurt. We’ll see if it attracts pained butts slowly over the years in a similar fashion. Hashtag historians.

  81. YANNO says:

well, i read the post before there were many comments on it and enjoyed/ was aware of the songs played but after re-visiting the comments section its definitely drawn me further away from electronic music
