Parkway Drive has gone all enviromentalcore on us

I have to admit I never expected the guys in one of the funner bands in metalcore to write a song about the environment. Keep this going and they can be the ‘scene’ version of Gojira. Except the song is still pretty brutal and will most definitely mosh from start to finish at their shows. I’m glad the band didn’t try to do the really artsy thing to go with it’s extrodinarilly d33p message.

  • 2:33 Woah, I’m touching walls, BUT I’M STILL PRETTY PISSED OFF ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT.
  • 3:29 They display all the military tech just to show the fans just where they will destroying each other.

very much the redeeming factor of this song.

lettuce discus the environment guiz. because PWD now know its a srs issue that needs addressing

Song is pretty good although they do kinda ride that one riff into oblivion. Had never heard much of these guys other than Deep Blue, but last night I listened to Killing With a Smile for the first time and it was one of the most mind-bottlingly amazing atthegatescore albums I’ve ever heard. Definitely the most mosh-inducing album in that style I know.

    • tr00 herper says:

Horizons is pretty sweet, they changed dramatically on d33p blue. But check out Horizons for the peak of their atthegatescore, it’s produced by the guys from Killswitch and just essentially sounds like a Killswich album without singing.

Parkway are all surferbros, it’s really not a big stretch to see them doing ENVIRONMENTCORE. This song is boring though, except for dat BLEH at 1:29 <3
Their newer stuff (deep blue onwards) is soooo unlistenably boring recorded but is pretty sweet live?? Guess they are just a really really good live band.

    • alanso says:

Yeah I can see them being really bummed about oil spills cos then the local people totally can’t surf, man. I agree with you on Deep Blue but I actually think this new song has a bit more energy to the sound.

Watched the video a few hours ago, thought of making p much this exact post for sywh btw. It looks like stock footage from a Korn video. Or to be even more accurate, it’s this video with PWD footage thrown in – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwELajFteTo Parklol Derp

Either way PWD are bakt hard by me. When I met Winston i wuz all liek omg u guise nevar play here (Ireland) 4 liek 6 years and he was liek omg so sorry 4 real. I was just having the lol with him.

    • tr00 herper says:

I agree, deep blue was pretty fucking boring, uninspired writing and slow breakdowns infected it. But this shows a bit of promise, the same style but better written songs.

    • Ink Deep says:

“Parkway are all surferbros, it’s really not a big stretch to see them doing ENVIRONMENTCORE.” Basically wat Jonnyfilth sed, except everything they’ve ever put out makes me go into a mach 10 moshalepsy-induced coma.

    • TLDR says:

      Typical nationalistic apologetics.

Must be weird when you aren’t USED to your country spewing out retarded shit all the time.

  3. 665.99999999 says:

    1:29 BLEH! *breakdown*

    2:07 dem pit stains

3:56 srs thought he was bout to punch the guitarist in the face

  4. Brimstone says:

They’re Australian. Everyone in this fucking country is a hippie.

  5. scapegoatzzz says:

The only current methulcoar band I can really get down with. I’m moshin’ tho!!11

  6. Void Eater says:

Flannel, gray shirts, and a bleak urban setting? So srs.

  7. tim bresolin says:

Hah yeah what australia is all hippies? but agree on they are surferbros from byron bay which is a paradise. and aussies for the most part like the environment, and koalas/wombats ect are cute as fuck

  8. GroundDweller says:

This song goes so effing hard. Dat bleh. Dat breakdown. Dat solo. I fucking love PWD so much.

  9. Walker says:

@jonnyfilth + feathered derpent & other ausbros: currently in new Zealand everyone between the ages of 17-25 is ostensibly obsessed with the environment/global warming/etc. is this the case in Australia? Do you guys think that this is just the cool thing to do right now, and as soon as they get a real job/get engaged they will have more important things to care about?

    • Jonnyfilth says:

Its just the cool thing to do. All young people jump on the bandwagon of various retarded causes that they forget about when they get a real job. I have a few Kiwi bros and Aussie bros who constantly whine about oil + mining + organic foods + capitalism + government exploitation + tax + carbon pollution + not having enough tissues for crying into… even though they live in a great country and make 10000000x more money than everyone else in the world.

My guess is, if any of them were accually smart enough to land a sweet high paying job, they’d forget all their dumb ideals and fall in love with capitalism + the good life. The dumb ones that aren’t smart enough for a real job are destined for a lifetime of smelly scumbaggery and posting facebook pictures about how America deserved 9/11 because oil.

I possibly have the gayest fanboy thing ever. I got a hundred dollar note signed by pwd.

    • tr00 herper says:

Give it a few years and the guys will talk about how they “dnt belibe in monay no more” then you’ll be cast out of their shows.

  16. jake says:

would be redeeming if a mosh callout was “RECYCLE, FAGGOTS!”

  17. SexHaver1987 says:

Song goes fucking hard, and I have absolutely no problem with these guys talking about the environment ‘n’ stuff – I mean, you gotta write about something.

  18. wiggles says:

early in the song, when they showed the full band, it looked like they were gettin ready for an old school pop-punk synchronized pogo session, and i got really exited.

  19. Ben says:

When i saw the video i knew that you would definitely have something to say about it hahaha

  20. stolcy says:

  21. My Uncle Bought a Used Fleshlight on Craigslist says:

I think videos interlaced with stock footage of nuclear explosions is the new grassy field

  22. TLDR says:

Saw this and immediately had to wash down the aftertaste of environmentalism with some ignorance by listening to “Black Earth” by Weekend Nachos
