Semi-relevant post-hardcore band attempts to regain cred by posting about tr00 bands

Far right dude looks like he’s barely standing, quick get him a wheelchair!

Do you per chance remember Funeral For a Friend? That post-hxc band who had serious potential but fucked up along the way? Well it appears they are trying to gain some credit. Either that or give a wink in the direction of the kinda people that will support them on their first US in years. “Here’s looking at you title fight”.

I get why bands post vids of their influences to get new fans liking what they loved growing up and I get posting a tour buddies’s vids to give them support. But it feels like they just did a quick google search and found out No Sleepcore and ‘the wave’ are the trendy thing in murican’ hardcore so they’re gonna post about that.

Random note: FFAFs fan base could be one of the origins of the tr00 movement. When they did the album Tales Don’t Tell Themselves they got a hella lot of stick for not being hardcore anymore. And made this transition back to their r00ts. It knocked them off the trajectory they were planned as being one of those big rock bands who came from heavier scene, like Biffy Clyro… Or You Meat Six…(wat duh fu-) Kinda makes me butthurt that they feel pressured by some 20 somethings who rly get what hardcore is all about and how you start, and die, in teh scene.

Y R ffaf playing with my heart? Y R they obsessed with their r00ts when it just makes em dated as fuk?? How much do you bet their first US tour in years will compose of tr00 support bands?

mirin’ dat Sinking Ships longsleeve. But yeah, this is a pretty clear attempt at getting them to tour together.

  2. nils says:

Man i remember them. They where gonna blow up in the core war of 02-05. Sadly they stopped being emo

    • tr00 herper says:

“core war of 02-05″ whatever that is, it deserves a post in its self.

      • Latinoheat!!! says:

you mean the whiny emo/screamo crap and metalcore business?

oh dear god no!!! being a teenager during dat era sucked ballz… teknology was barely transitioning… i had to download mp3s song by song back den…. on morpheus or kazaa!!! =/

now i get why sarge hated or loved the 90s… there are horrible yet lulzy parts to any decade but when you get to the future a good ten years or so down the road you reflect on that time and all the bullshit you had to go through during that era =/

  3. jorbam says:

Egh (tugs at collar) that was awkward. Reeking of sad desperation/10. The funny thing is, I see Title Fight doing this exact same thing years down the road when they become the old bros “trying to be hip with whatever the kids are into.”

Greying Around the Temples Title Fight via their Spacebook Splorch: “Zag bros! Check out (insert whatever lasercore band will be “it” at the current time here)! They really know how to bring the jiggy!”

    • thetotalbro says:

      lulz

      • yup says:

If i’m correct the word “jiggy” should be coming back in a couple years via rappers copping Will Smith’s 1998 Hit Single, “Gettin Jiggy With It”. Also i would really like to see kids start to jock Will Smith’s discography and take it really seriously.

  4. fuzz says:

I recall being really into that song “All The Rage” in like 2005 or 2007 or something. I downloaded the album it was on but thought it was really boring

  5. Greg says:

better than them being moany old men complaining about how newer hardcore bands lost themselves.

    • Sergeant D says:

      THIS.

It might be gay for them to jock Title Fight of all newer bands, but I will take that 10000000000 times over all the butthurt oldfags who hate everything new. It’s a breath of fresh air to see an older band who actually pays attention to what the next generation of kids is doing.

    • Matt Pinfield says:

      f’real doe

    • tr00 herper says:

FFAF seem like pretty cool guys, they’ve toured with bands from near enough every sub-genre in hardcore, punk and metal. They don’t really seem to give a fuck and like everything. Just as Serg said, they happen to pick Title Fight of all newer bands, felt blogable.

      • rigs says:

i remember seeming them back in 2002 or something for what must have been their first US tour. they seemed like super chill bros who just wanted to drink some beers and have fun. i think they opened for My Chemical Romance or some shit.

        • tr00 herper says:

Even now live they play songs when they were called emo, and even the new stuff which is still fairly emotional and they just jump about a have fun. They are backtard IMVHO.

  6. Void Eater says:

This reminded me of Such Gold, so I decided to listen to them again, and they’ve stopped being tr00 pop punk and are now melodic hardcore. Not surprising since they’ve always been more hardcore oriented than their peers, but its still a sad development. :(

  7. Kvlt times Kvlt measvres says:

    Juneau ftw

  8. Save Parker says:

irrelevant band lookin to tour with young tumblr heroes?

  9. verb my noun says:

I still remember being amazed that Wales could produce a band like FFAF, but the slump they went into after Hours (lol) was depressing. Fortunately they got their shit together on their last album after half the line-up got replaced, and the new one sounds like it’ll also have shouting and stuff, so that’s cool.

    • tr00 herper says:

Half the line-up? only the singer has been there since 2001.

      • verb my noun says:

Even he’s not the original one, but when WHA came out three of the five members had been there since the debut album. Now it’s just the singer and the guitarist. The new drummer isn’t even Welsh!

  10. Jon says:

Irrelvant sidebar: Anyone remember that Legion of Doom remix/mashup album? I always thought the FFAF/Saves the Day mashup was the best.

  11. Keka says:

This band’s actually pretty big over here still, by the standards of UK -core bands. I mean, they could sell out a 5,000-person show in London without any problem. I guess that didn’t translate across the US. Also, from what I can tell, it’s not that anyone scared them back into going back to their roots – their label made them go lighter and when they formed their own label they started playing heavier again. At least they’re not doing fuckin’ concept albums about fishing boats anymore (yeah, that was a thing they did).

    • tr00 herper says:

They are still popular in our country yes, but they’re not relevant in the US any more because they haven’t toured there in like 4 years. It’s just long enough to stump their legacy. And for what it’s worth albums about fishing boats are cool.

      • Keka says:

As much as I <3 FFAF it would be funny as fuck if they had to tour the US as support to, like, Sleeping with Sirens or Asking Alexandria. I mean, I don't want that to happen to them but if it did I would laugh my ass off.

        • tr00 herper says:

Their last UK tour in Nov was with Escape The Fate & The Bunny The Bear, and earlier in April they had Rise To Remain. Which I thought this collection was lulzy enough in it self.

  12. Neon Jesus says:

I remember really liking their first EP and full length. After that everything they put out was pretty boring sounding to me. Wasn’t bad, I just felt like they could do so much more with their talent. I like Title Fight for the most part, would probably go to a tour with the two of them on the bill.

    • (curvedEdgeCrusty) says:

Backed….FFAF was always a good listen if around chicks (or your mom) to keep the imn on the low.
Always wish they were called Funeral For a Person, so they would be FFAP….stuttering masturbation acronyms never not funny

  13. ge5undhe17 says:

    “I made a little wee”

    hah, weenies

  14. Mustard_Tiger says:

It seems kind of ghey looking back but they had a dvd with a bunch of music videos which were a story of a dude with a pillow case on his head but that shit blew my 14 year old mind when I first watched it

  15. eurotrash says:

Escape Artists Never Die is one of my all time fav songs, plus I really dig the video too, but the rest of the band’s output is pretty meh. I mean I must be an fggt but for me they’ve always been kinda one hit wonders.

  16. DDF says:

Former member is now an artist. Not mirin’.

  17. Chillin' says:

Post takes me back to High School where the most relevant decision of my life was whether or not to identify with the scene bands that I secretly loved and get easy poon from the scene girls or try to get more cred by liking “tr00 hardcore” bands to get with the quirky but cute suburban girl that was “rlly into meaningful punk bands.”

On a side-note, punk girl has begun making the transition into indie chick.

  18. OBEY1019 says:

Never listened to Title Fight but stumbled up the “Head In The Ceiling Fan” vid and wow….most depressing shit I have heard in years.
