Those of us who miss The Neon Years have had a rough 6-12 months, with the one crabcore/Risecore band after the next turning into SLIPKNOTCORE or ‘hard rock,’ but there is at least one band who has another vision for post-crabcore: LAKEVIEW, who sound something like ATTACK ATTACK meets A DAY TO REMEMBER.

The result is exactly as awesome as it sounds. One minute ur moshing to the Sturgis-style breakdowns, the next minute you’re singing along with the huge, poppy choruses. It’s basically what I hoped AA, I SEE STARS, and all their peers would turn into- the next evolution of what began on Myspace but will live on the social networks of the future (but probably minus Pinterest). No clue who these guys are but I hope to hear more from them!

Agree. The drums seem a fair amount louder than everything else. To be honest I think if just the guitars were increased then it’d balance things out. They seem kinda weak.
Will definitely have to listen to this when I get home. Drums good, guitars bad. Especially totally fake drums.

My thoughts exactly. My favorite ghei scene albums are ADTR’s Homesick and AA!’s self titled album and this literally sounds exactly like both of them.

Funny you mention Attack Attack, their old clean/autotune singer Johnny Franck produced the new EP. Check out the older EP Live Before You Die too. It’s not as well-produced but still has some stupidly catchy songs on it.

yeah lakeview is sweet. i just wish they had a bit better production. their first EP “live before you die” is really sweet too (but has barely any synth). definitely a huge day to remember vibe. i wish there were more poppy-crabcore type bands.
