I think it is safe to call PUNK GOES POP a pillar of the scene, a trusted and venerable institution that is so intertwined with our culture that we have a hard time thinking of what life would be like without it– the Smithsonian of the scene, the 60 Minutes of breakdowns, the Time of mesh shorts. It’s come a long way since its humble beginnings in 2002 (SLICK SHOES and REACH THE SKY lol), and despite its ups and downs I am confident calling PUNK GOES POP 5 the series’ finest moment.
A few favorites:
liek dis if it reminds u of when u took a trip someone and met a girl u rly lieked by then u had to go home and u rly missed her but ur liek ‘better 2 have loved and lost than nevar have loved at all’ and everytime u hear this u think of her
MAYDAY PARADE ft Vic Fuentes of PIERCE THE VEIL– it doesn’t get anymore 2k10 tumblrcore than this!! Don’t really like either of those bands real songs, but this is p tight.
“Grenade” by MEMPHIS MAY FIRE, a classic example of why these comps are the best thing ever: they help good-but-not-great bands solve the tricky problem of writing good songs and let them focus on what’s important. Namely, being scene as fuk and figuring out where the breakdowns should go.
