2012 Gathering Of SYWH Podcast Guests, L-R: Sergeant D, Michael from GOLIATH, DJ TWOSTACKS and Cam/BIG CHOCOLATE

Please welcome back our very first podcast guest Cameron Argon aka BIG CHOCOLATE for his second appearance on the SYWH Podcast. In addition to being a super talented, prolific musician Cam is also a very sharp guy with an innate business sensibility, and I was stoked to pick his brain about that. He’s gone from being a derpy kid making death metal songs in his parent’s house to a producer and DJ that plays to thousands of people all over the world in only a few years, and he did it all himself, 100% DIY. That’s not only super punk (srs), but also the new blueprint for making a living in the music industry.

The lavish sign on Cam’s dressing room door at the Fonda Theatre. As you can see, they will truly spare no expense to make their artists feel welcome!!

ENEPEDESTALMENT’s best song, featuring Cam on vocals

We also talked about how being a nice person is awesome, the Mitch Lucker memorial show, watching yourself turn into a grownup, and how annoying it is when fanboys “compli-sult” you. Also I really like the part where I say “With that mustache and beanie you look like you’re in Fugazi” and he doesn’t know what Fugazi is. Thanks to Cam for being on the podcast again and being a good dude in general!

  1. Void Eater says:

normally don’t listen to these via extremely short attention span but Big Chocolate is an inspiration (completely serious others will surely agree) and must be listened to.

  2. fuzz says:

I love how the word “chocolate” on the dressing room door isn’t even capitalized

    • fuzz says:

But srsly it’s amazing how he’s only like four or five years older than I am and he’s already accomplished way more than I probably ever will

      • Wallabedarned says:

Damn, that makes me feel old, and I’m not even 23. I’m marginally older than Big Chocolate and I haven’t accomplished shit comparably :\

  3. Isaac says:

LOL you’re such a old sarge

  4. Anonymous says:

    lol @ sticker on hat

  5. C.N. says:

    Fuck yeah go Cam!

  6. Jonnyfilth says:

Doesn’t know what a Fugazi is = my kind of person.
    <3 u Big C

  7. C.N. says:

But I’m just wondering on a side note, does anyone know what the “boop” noise is that happens in the podcast? I’ve heard it in a few of them and I’m curious.

  8. V Saxena says:

Comment on the mid-section ad thing ‘all guys are jerks’ (too busy to listen to the podcast at the moment; will try later):

Not all guys are jerks, but most guys who actually “get” girls are jerks. And that’s why I, Sir, am on a mission to become a jerk. I believe I’m already halfway there, har har har.

And also most guys who aren’t jerks who do get girls are at least pretty boys with amazing good looks, no friggen homo. Notice how all the guys pictured in the video are pretty good looking. No facial moles. No acne scars. No oversized jaws. Etc. Yeahhh.

Speaking of homo, WTF is that in the background!? She/he/it single? aHAH j/k lololol

Stoked on this podcast. Thanks man!

  10. tickle says:

YOU KNOW, THIS PODCAST WAS GOOD BUT IT SUCKED BALLS COMPARED TO ALL YOUR OTHER ONES BRO BUT I’M A BIG FAN.

srs though, Cam is a cool kid and chill bro irl. I really like when you talk about the business side of music in podcasts (just like the ones with Eyal, he is an A+ guest.) Stoked on this!

  11. I don't get it says:

    - love frasier
    - cam seems super nice and i recently got into his music, which is super awesome
    - i can confirm i am weird with no social skills
    - the giggling at ‘slutwave’ while you continue 100% srs about entombedcore

    awesome podcast!

  12. Byron Buttbeast says:

Cam’s laughs are funny as fuck to listen to. Such a great guy he is!

  13. Zoloft says:

Fav internet person ever, luv u Big Chocoloco

  14. You guys are dropping so many truth bombs in this. I was talking to my band just the other day about how we need to run shit like a business. And it sucks having to be the hardass in the band, but I know I really need to insist on stuff like deadlines and our professional persona.

  15. Collin says:

This podcast was srs inspirational. I’ve been pretty down lately, especially when thinking about the future of my band and how I’d rather just be in school so I can actually make money in my adult life. But the way you guys went about discussing music and artistry and the business side of it was so down to earth that it sort of turned me around and got me thinking of music as a way to measure progress, similar to working out or something. So thanks sarge, you are good and lovely

  16. yup says:

Speaking of the “Mosh Ur Balls Offf w/ a Chainsaw Tour”, who’s gonna catch the EmmureChapel tour that just started?

  17. w-money says:

this kind of shit restores my faith in the fans of heavy music. it made me happy. thanks sarge

  18. w-money says:

also this ‘forum’ or ‘group’ you mentioned to advise hardcore/metal bands on releasing/industry stuff sounds great. would use and contribute

  19. Manualdad says:

I always become super happy and calm when I hear your giggles when you and your friends / podcast interviewees make a kinda sorta funny joke.

Really great to hear two good and positive dudes discuss fun / interesting / dumb stuff.

  20. Notderek says:

Just heard “don’t try to test it” on a comercial for a movie. Crazy!

  21. DevilSomething says:

Finally got around to listening to this. Totally understand the “compli-sult.” I play in rando local metal band and after every show someone will come up and say something like “you guys were great I mean there was this one part where your amp had like too much speaker distortion and it didnt sound good but you know for the most part it was good.” wtf? My explanation is that audience members feel that by criticizing the performer they (a) feel like they can do some service for the performer and help the performer in some way and (b) they can act like they have the knowledge and authority to say these things to the performer. But yea it’s just lulzy and awful
