If you recall BRING ME THE HORIZON talking about how they wanted to be a ‘post-rock’ band a year or so ago, I’m sure you had the same reaction I did: “Looks like it’s time to add another name to the ‘bands who used to be good’ tag on SYWH.” But to my surprise, their new single is actually pretty damn good– it’s no “Chelsea Grin” but it’s not half bad. My notes:
- Isn’t “Shadow Moses” the name of some bad guy from Metal Gear? Feel liek he was Revolver Ocelot’s underling or something.
- Not really sure what the director was going for with the video, but I am guessing it’s something along the lines of “Imagine ur in a wintry dreamland with a box of roman candles and some breakdowns”
- Dat grose haircut :( It’s not even 50s dad, it’s like… early 80s poor kid who got his hair cut by his mom in the kitchen with a pair of school scissors.
- 3:20 where he pulls down the neck of his shirt, like “sry i had to wear a longsleeve bc its all snowy and shit but i wanted u to see my tatties for a sec”

If anything they exercise how high up in the scene they are by taking a whole year off of touring and appearances. Despite Killswitch & As I Lay Dying and who else you consider developing metalcore as we know it, these guys are defining what we’ll be hearing in the 2010s.

At least Oli Hasn’t pulled a Dylan Richter and grown a lolzy stach. This song is badass though, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.
